  1. although i do not know BSL, i answered ur question anyways.

Nope, deaf ppl are not disabled, not anymore since the 1970s. cuz now we have everything we need to help us like flashers to let us know when doorbell rings and phone rings and other things. TTY and Vp helps too. so we are not disabled… we have “deaf culture”…

  2. Still disabled by the society Says:

We still need interpreters for meetings at work where CART is not accomodated. We still need CC in theatres. We are still disabled BY society.

  3. Thank you and great job you did. Very clear. Keep up a good work. I said NO. We d/Deaf people are not disabled period. We can do everything except hear. So there are many hearing people who do have missing something such as memory loss, etc… so I don’t see any different between us and hearing people. There is no different at all. I don’t know BSL…..but found your comment interesting. I am half deaf and I don’t consider myself “disabled”. However according to societies definitions of what a disabled person is…..technically all persons who are hearing impaired, vision impaired, loss of limbs, mentally disabled…..we are all catagorized as disabled because we are not “perfect”. I feel I am normal, smart, funny and fun to be around. However to society I am disabled because I don’t hear as well as they do. If a person in a wheelchair says I am not disabled….because my wheelchair allows me to go wherever I want. My vehicle is specialized so I can drive with my hands, and my home is accessable to me. I have complete freedom. Would you still see that person as a disabled individual? I believe it’s how you see yourself…and are you happy within your own skin. No one wants to be labeled. We are all unique individuals, that seek love and acceptance. Let society believe what it wants to believe.
